open flame in the forest at les ombrieres a wild retreat in france

‘Forage and flame’, is a retreat that embraces the turn of the seasons and invites you to reconnect with nature.

As Autumn unfolds, join us for an unforgettable woodland experience that will engage your senses and immerse you in the art of foraging, outdoor cookery and the medicinal powers of the forest.

Whilst exploring our extensive woodland, you will gain knowledge of safe foraging practices that will help you identify the abundance of nature’s offerings and wild edibles.

There will be the opportunity to learn simple butchery skills on locally caught deer or wild boar, understanding the ethical and sustainable methods behind sourcing your meat.

After foraging and butchering, gathered around an outdoor fire, discover the art of cooking over an open flame and create delicious dishes that highlight the rich flavours of the ingredients you’ve gathered.

Practice Shirin-yoko

Engage in the ancient Japanese practice of Shirin-yoko, and awaken your senses to the power and energy of nature. Lose yourself and unwind beneath the canopy of the woodland and experience true therapeutic relaxation with a ‘wild’ massage treatment. Discover the art of meditation and connect to the power of nature and find your own personal place of calm.

This immersive experience promises not only to promote relaxation and deepen your appreciation for the natural world but also to enhance your cooking repertoire in memorable and enjoyable ways.
